Urban Futures Symposium

The Urban Futures Symposium is a two-day event on September 1–2, 2025, dedicated to empowering the next generation of urban innovators. Hosted by the Urban Energy Systems Laboratory (UESL) at Empa, this symposium celebrates a decade of impactful research in urban systems. The event will feature visionary keynotes, interactive workshops, research presentations, and panel discussions focused on creating decarbonized, resilient, and equitable cities.

The event will explore a range of critical urban themes, including energy, mobility, built environments, and resource efficiency. These topics will be examined through cross-cutting lenses such as technology, policy, and societal impact. The goal is to foster integrated thinking and bridge the gap between research and practical implementation.
