Architectural Cognition in Practice

- This week we've had Assoc. Prof. Nick Dalton visiting us from Northumbria University.

Semantic Urban Elements: Linking Urban Analytics, Design, and Usage for Cyber-Physical Cities

- Chenyi Cai gave an invited lecture to Shandong Jianzhu University, School of Architecture and Urban Planning on Wednesday 22nd May

Dense and Green Cities

- Thomas has been invited to contribute to a week-long studio on the future of education in Singapore organised by RISD for Raffles Institution in July.

- Research documentation work in progress.

Circular Future Cities

- Prof. Benjamin Sanchez is a visiting researcher in the group of Prof. Hellweg. This Wednesday he gave a seminar "BIM-based disassembly planning for a Circular Economy in the built environment".

Powering the City

- POW submitted 2 posters to the Create Symposium. 1) "Integrating Solar Photovoltaics and EVs to Decarbonize Singapore for Climate Mitigation" led by Jiazu Zhou and Yean Seanglidet from our Mobility Work Package, and 2) "Investigation of the impact of urban planning regulations on distributed energy system performance" led by Jidong Kang from our Socioeconomics Work Package in collaboration with Chenyi Cai from the Semantic Urban Elements Module

- We had successfull final presentations of our Masters course "Computational Methods of Energy- and Climate Design" last week, where students presented their course works on using advanced methods for BIPV design (building simulation, optimization, energy hubs, ...). The evaluation panel consisted of the teaching team as well as Prof. Arno Schlüter and visiting Professor from TU Delft Dr. Thaleia Konstantinou

- The last days it rained really hard in Zurich

- Pengyuan's co-authored paper on using GNN to predict building heights accepted in Computers Environment and Urban Systems

News and Views

Future Cities Laboratory Global

- The preparations for the FCL Exhibition in URA Centre is progressing well. All modules are to nominate one representative to be present at the venue on 01 June 2024 (Saturday) to verify and confirm that the module exhibition tables are put together correctly. The exact time and schedule will be coordinated through the common Teams channel for the exhibition.
