Today I would like to shortly write about constantly changing ecosystems, which we are all part of. Navigating these ecosystems can be overwhelming, especially when we lack a full understanding of the elements involved and their interactions. When we belong to multiple interconnected ecosystems, the complexity increases exponentially. To successfully navigate these systems, it's crucial to enhance connections and information flow between each element. According to Metcalfe’s law: "the value of a network is proportional to the square of the number of nodes." This means that improving these connections not only helps us find our way but also enhances the overall quality of the ecosystem's output.
The first ecosystems in which all FCL members are element of is the Engagement Platform. Over the past months and years, this platform has steadily grown in size, complexity, and functionality. Its key features and tasks include:
- presenting the FCL Global programme
- Showcasing our works with the
- Training FCL members
- visualising data used and produced by FCL Global investigators in the
- gathering the
- Producing
- facilitating the creation of periodical reporting and administrative work, as currently done in the Module Survey.
In essence, the Engagement Platform strengthens the connections within the FCL Global Ecosystem, enhancing the programme’s overall quality and value.
The Engagement Platform is also managing this Weekly update, which, as you can see, has being revamped. We've added elements that reflect our visual identity (for more on this, see previous posts by Julio and myself (accessible only to registered FCL Members), streamlined the module updates for clarity, and linked each module block to its corresponding Module Space. This allows you to explore each aspect of the FCL Global Ecosystem more deeply, if you wish.
Finally from this week, we have strengthened the link between the FCL Global Ecosystem and all other SEC Ecosystems, by allowing everyone in the FHT and FRS programmes, in the other SEC projects and in the SEC management team to subscribe and receive the FCL Weekly newsletter.
On that note, I welcome our 12 new subscribers and wish you all a great weekend.
