Dear FCL Global Community,
The 15 Years Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) Event & Exhibition opened this week at the ETH Zurich main building, and the presentations provided an excellent overview of the history of the SEC, which stretches not only from the start of the CREATE initiative in 2010, but also from a longer history of exchange between Singapore and Switzerland. As the first research programme under SEC, FCL Global is an integral part of this relationship, which has seen the co-development of approaches, technologies, and design strategies for studying and tackling complex urban challenges at an unprecedented global scale, leveraging the strengths of both countries as international scientific hubs and living laboratories.
We are grateful for everyone across the FCL Global network who have in one way or another contributed to this strong legacy of innovation in Science, Design, Engineering, and Governance. Your efforts, support, and connections have not only yielded a considerable quantity and quality of output (with over 150 journal articles in the past five years alone), but also formed the basis of strong partnerships, talent training pipelines, and friendships, with many FCL Global alumni going on to research, teaching, and industry positions worldwide.
In the coming year, we will work together to consolidate research outputs, complete our research and partnership commitments, and communicate the impact of FCL research to society. The FCL This Week newsletter will pause until then. In the meantime, we hope everyone enjoys a holiday season full of rest, restoration, and care.
Happy holidays,
FCL Global Communications
