Dear FCL Global Community,
We’re excited to welcome you to the Comparative Ecology of Cities Symposium on June 26th, hosted at CREATE Tower and open to online participants worldwide. This half-day event brings together researchers, planners, and city-lovers to dive into how urban patterns influence everything from biodiversity and public health to energy use, hydrology, and socioeconomic activity. It’s our work in the Comparative Ecology of Cities (CEC) module at FCL Global, where we’re unpacking the hidden relationships between the physical layout of cities and how they actually function.
With a mix of presentations and discussions, the symposium will offer fresh perspectives and new findings on the pattern-function dynamics of cities. Whether you're curious about how greenspace supports biodiversity and public health, how trees affect energy use, how water moves through cityscapes, or how street networks shape local economies, there’ll be something for you. We’ll also showcase highlights from the design studio, where students, inspired by the research, creatively explore strategies for future urban development. The day will close with a panel discussion bringing together diverse voices to reflect on key insights and chart directions for research and practice. We're looking forward to an open exchange of ideas, and hope you’ll join us — in person or online — for what promises to be a thought-provoking afternoon of urban exploration (kindly register here: https://forms.office.com/r/dqmjmHqPgu)!
