PERSPECTIVES, conceived for the 2025 Venice Biennale, offers an interrogation of sustainable urban futures. The installation presents a series of distinct, research-driven visions, distilled from an analysis of diverse urban contexts. From the fragile equilibrium of rural peripheries in Antananarivo and Jakarta, through the structured low-rise urbanity of Zurich and Sarajevo, to the dynamic pulse of metropolises like Singapore and Chennai, PERSPECTIVES offers a nuanced, data-informed exploration of the challenges confronting each locale, namely resource cycles, climate-responsive development, dense and green urbanism, human-centered design, and resilient urban growth. Each presented scenario, a projection of potential futures, is grounded in scientific inquiry and leverages cutting-edge technologies. Critically, PERSPECTIVES showcases the unique analytical lens afforded by the tools, models, and datasets used, demonstrating their capacity to parse and interpret the inherent complexities of urban systems. This installation offers a glimpse into potential urban futures, and a focused examination of the methodological and technological innovations driving FCL’s vision for more equitable and livable cities.
